Guide Pick
"Patagonia Nano Puff- great temperature range. Works well when active."
The guides over at RMI collectively spend over 10,000+ days a year on the world's highest mountains, climbing hundreds of thousands of vertical feet. They put their gear and apparel through the wringer. This stuff is their work wear and they simply will not tolerate inferior gear.
Step 2
At the end of the climbing season, guides are given a survey to find out what gear they are using and why it is their favorite. We don’t often get complete agreement but we do get alignment and by looking at the data, a few clear winners rise to the top in each category.
Step 3
We take those winners, and stamp them with the Guide Pick™ logo on our site. We also compile this wonderful little document, which you can use to see top contenders, gear advice, Guide Quotes, and more.
This is a very light weight, warm, and comfortable jacket and it is exactly what we expected. It so meets our expectations that I will be purchasing a third!!!

Love the Nano Puff Hoody!
I bought two for two different women hikers. Both said “I love this coat!”. The medium is a perfect fit for both ladies. One said she had been looking for a coat just like this in the grey color in local stores, but couldn’t find it. She went on a 6-mile hike in February and said it kept her at a perfect temperature. The other said the elastic hood fits perfectly - keeps the hood on without being too tight or too loose. Her daughter wants to borrow it for a ski trip. After wearing it, both had the same exclamation: “I love this coat!” Apparently, for at least two, and maybe three, women, the Patagonia Nano Puff Hoody is a winner.
