Recommended for Lower Elevation Mountaineering, Ice Climbing, and Heavy Winter Backpacking

This versatile, insulated boot’s ankle design has been tweaked to allow for slightly softer, easier ankle flex when traveling uphill, but its best-selling concept remains the same, balancing comfort with durability. The Alpine Expert II GTX is a high performance yet walkable mountaineering boot, making it ideal for ice & mixed climbing, lower elevation alpine travel as well as heavy winter backpacking trips. Automatic crampon-compatible. Featuring a durably waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX lining to protect feet from the elements.

  • Independently adjustable lacing zones, on forefoot and upper, allow user to customize the lacing tension.
  • The shell-like construction of the sole envelops and secures the foot to provide optimal fit.
  • Individually mounted tabs allow lacing system to flex as you walk, reducing pressure points.
  • Metal eyelets with small rollers minimize friction and equalize tension.
  • Rubber rand secures heel to prevent lift while front pointing.
  • We build our boots with varying degrees of flexibility depending on intended use.
  • Metal stud works with laces, reducing unwanted tongue movement and pressure points.
  • Flat rubber in toe area improves contact with rock.
  • A low profile midsole for weight reduction and increased sensitivity.
  • Reduced midsole in toe area increases sensitivity to rock.
  • LOWA can resole this product at our German factory.
  • High density PU insert under heel cushions without compromising midsole rigidity.

  • Mountaineering Split Leather, Microfiber
  • GORE-TEX, PrimaLoft® 400g
  • Insulate Pro Alu-Coated w/ Fleece
  • DuraPU®, Automatic crampon (C3) compatible
  • VIBRAM® ALP TRAC® ICE
  • 775g / Single Shoe
