What does the National Park Service say about snow chains?
"Between November 1 and May 1, all vehicles in Mount Rainier National Park are required to carry tire chains. This requirement applies to all vehicle types in all weather and road conditions." [More info from the NPS can be found here.]
When can I rent snow chains from Whittaker Mountaineering?

What size snow chain do I need?
On your tire you'll find three numbers that designate the width, height, and diameter. Once you have that, you just need to enter it into the fields on our rental page, and we'll pick the right chain size for you. Easy!

It costs $19.50 per day to rent snow chains from Whittaker Mountaineering.
What kind of snow chains does Whittaker Mountaineering rent out?
We primarily rent Security Chain Company Radial Chain Cables which we picked because they're easy to put on and much less likely to cause any damage to your hubcaps. Keep in mind, there can be exceptions depending on the type of vehicle.
How do I put snow chains on my car?
This video does a great job of illustrating the process, but don't worry too much! Our helpful staff will help you put the chains on at the store if you need any assistance.
