Socks

Merino wool is the gold standard. It manages moisture, resists odor, and insulates even when damp. Synthetic blends dry faster and can add durability, but pure cotton should always be avoided in cold or wet conditions.

Liner socks can reduce friction and help manage moisture during long climbs. Many climbers use them with heavier outer socks for multi-day expeditions or when breaking in new boots.

For multi-day climbs, bring at least two or three pairs — one for climbing, one for camp, and a dry backup. Rotating pairs helps keep feet healthy and extends the life of your socks.
