Our Take

Ultra-light, high-capacity alpine pack built for serious expeditions

The Stache 60 Pack delivers 60L of carrying capacity in a remarkably light, stripped-down package, ideal for climbers and mountaineers tackling heavy loads in demanding environments. Its versatile design lets you configure for either maximum volume or a pared-down summit-ready loadout.

Why We Love It
Miles Watson

The Blue Ice Stache hits a sweet spot that is hard to find in a climbing pack: genuinely light, genuinely functional, and comfortable enough to carry all day without fighting it. The integrated gear loops on the waist belt keep your tools where you need them, the dedicated avi pocket and separate crampon pouch on the outside mean you are not digging through the main compartment mid-route, and the ice axe carry system is one of the better ones out there. For its weight, it carries a surprising mid-range load without complaint, and the stripped-back design makes it fast to pack and repack on the go. Honest limitations worth knowing: heavy loads expose the boundaries of what this pack was designed for, requiring you to crank the waist straps uncomfortably tight to manage the weight. The bottom lash straps are fixed, which creates problems if you are carrying ladders or oversized gear. And if you pack it to the brim, plan to throw a half hitch on the lid strap or it will work itself loose. This is a technical climbing pack being asked to moonlight as a workhorse, and it mostly delivers, but know what you are buying.

“I use it all summer on everything I work. It shines as a workhorse and on technical climbs. It has integrated gear loops on the waist which I like and a dedicated avi pocket as well as a separate crampon pouch on the outside. For its lack of padding and weight it carries well at mid weight. I also really like the ice axe carry system.”
