Why We Love It

Expedition packs ask a lot: carry a heavy load on the approach, then compress down enough to climb in. The Stache 90 handles both ends of that range better than most, expanding to a full 90 liters for long hauls and compressing down to around 45 for technical climbing sections where bulk becomes a liability. Guides have used it in the Ruth Gorge carrying heavy loads and then broken it down for the climb without needing a second pack. The materials punch above their weight for the price point, offering durability and light weight that rival more expensive options. A practical tip worth knowing: placing your sleeping pad inside the pack stiffens the frame considerably, improving load transfer on heavy carries. Honest limitation: the hip belt buckle is a weak point that does not match the rest of the pack's construction, so handle it with care on big loads.
