The Mission 75 has earned its reputation the hard way. Guides have put 300-plus days of hard use on a single pack before it showed signs of giving out, and one bought secondhand from another guide outlasted brand new packs purchased afterward. It is a simple, tube-like design with logical organization, dedicated tool and crampon holsters to keep sharps away from your down, and enough capacity to stretch across everything from a four-day Rainier climb to a longer seminar program. The back panel can be removed in the backcountry and used as a splint in an emergency, a detail you hope never matters. A couple of honest notes: the shoulder straps pack out faster than they should with heavy daily use, so factor that into long-term expectations. One guide tip worth stealing: remove the top brain and stow it inside the pack body when it is not full, keeping the profile clean and the weight centered.
