Why We Love It

The Speed 30 works because it does not try to do too much. The simple, stripped-down design means there is no extra weight, no dangling straps, and no unnecessary features getting in the way of a clean load. It is durable enough to hold up through mountaineering, skiing, climbing, and travel days without babying, and the removable brain is worth knowing how to use properly. One guide tip that makes a real difference on big days: detach the brain entirely, use that space to store snacks and emergency gear for fast access, and stow the brain at the top of the main compartment. Getting into your pack faster on a cold exposed ridge is not a small thing. Bright color options do not hurt either when visibility matters.
