Our Take
The essential bridge between the trailhead and the vertical world.
The La Sportiva TX4 Evo is built for the rugged, unpredictable miles that lie between the parking lot and the summit block. It is a robust leather approach shoe designed to handle the abuse of off-trail travel, talus fields, and technical alpine scrambles without missing a beat. Balancing the walking comfort of a hiking boot with the precision of a climbing shoe, it delivers absolute confidence when the terrain steepens and the exposure increases. Whether you are navigating a loose moraine, edging up a 4th-class slab, or hauling a heavy pack to a high camp, this shoe provides the stable, unyielding foundation you need for long days in the mountains.
Boot Fitting Tips
EU and US Sizing
More sizes means a better fit! Most mountaineering footwear is built on European half sizes which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives us five extra sizes per size run, which gives you a better fit!

Why We Love It
Thomas Skoog
“"I’ve had these approach shoes for a super long time and they continue to work without breaking down. I’ve used them for just about every conceivable activity from guide days on trail to “booting” up soft early season snowfields to access alpine rock, to personal rock climbing and scrambling, and even two ascents of el cap that involved a fair amount of standing in aiders and jugging. You could probably put these shoes through a wood chipper and they would still climb rock better than your mountain boots."
