Men's Neoshell ® Nuker Pant
These pants are amazing. When I got them, I thought they would be a typical "hard-shell" and was okay with that. They were so much more! They are breathable and flexible but still as bomber, waterproof, and weatherproof as other materials. Highly recommend!
I love the great breathability, slim fit, weight, look and feel of these NeoShell Nuker pants (M - I'm 31wx30L). They're very comfortable with good freedom of movement. With a base layer and a mid-weight layer, I stay very dry going up Mt. Hood on skins at more than 1000’ per hour. I haven’t used them in rain, but they do a great job of shedding snow and blocking wind. The 7/8 length waterproof side zips are nice but seem a little less robust than those on my other shells. Time will tell. I prefer full side zip when using crampons but I can see leaving these pants on all day, so that may not matter much.
The integrated belt is low profile and does its job. It's easy to attach but the loops the hook slides though are very flexible and can catch and be challenging to remove in an alpine environment with gloves and without looking. The design could be improved by using stiffer material for the loops. The snap closure at the top of the fly is robust and required a lot of force to open initially, but it appears to unsnap a little more easily after several days of use.
The (M) pants are narrow at the cuffs and barely fit around my 27.5 Dynafit Hoji Free AT boots, which are pretty slim as alpine touring boots go. I wouldn't expect to be able to close the side zips over most AT boots. Crampon patches and a little more room in the cuff would be nice.
These pants have worked very well so far and have been a joy to use. All-in-all, this is a great pair of soft-shell pants.
Soft, light, quiet, full zip, and I hardly noticed they were on. Wore them snowshoeing in the snow/rain over a base layer and never took them off after I got to the car. Felt totally dry underneath. Wore them to dinner and they felt like regular pants. I’m from the NW so they will get lots of use. I wear 34x32 and large is perfect. Only wore them twice now so I can’t speak to durability, but the alpine cut doesn’t leave excess fabric flapping around which tends to snag on things. Neoshell is perfect for pants. So far I love everything that Bight has made.
I was a bit skeptical of NeoShell being all that breathable, but it really is. Had a really great day skiing in these and the NeoShell Nuker Jacket. Both performed flawlessly.
Great product so far, I am tall, large is a tad short but really like the pants, can tell they were designed by people who actually use them. Great job guys!
