I have been looking for this for a while now, as I don't need long pants with my ski boots that run high. I usually wear medium, 32-33, so I initially ordered medium. However, Med was too small for me to even wear my base layer under. So I had to exchange for Large (thanks Kerry!). This thing is exactly what I was looking for my ski tours, also saving some weight by not have to carry full pants. The only thing I would change - I would make the shorts a little longer, and have maybe cuffs to prevent drafts. Awesome local brand, will buy more from you in the future.

At 210g in medium (measured) these are, as far as I can tell, the lightest lower body insulation that can be put on or taken off while wearing crampons or skis. Most features seem very well thought out, but I do have a few quibbles: first, the lightweight side zips are difficult to close while wearing gloves. Practically, this means that the shorts are easy to take off in the morning, but difficult to put back on before setting up camp. Second, some air/heat does escape through the the leg cuffs. I feel that cinches or elastic in the cuffs would be well worth the weight penalty, and will probably modify mine.
Overall though, these are a killer alternative to fullzip insulated pants for those of us who run warm.

For long days in the snow, like avalanche training or heli boarding, these shorts are perfect. I have most often worn under my shell bibs. They add a fair amount of warmth on your rear if you find yourself sitting, as well as warmth to quads if working into a stiff cold wind. The Power Stretch on the sides and inner leg make them fit very well over other layers and allow great fit while moving. The full length zips are critical for getting the shorts on/off in tough situations.
