Warm and comfortable feet!

The double insulated boot is a true gem to have while mountaineering. It was light weight, quick drying, and comfortable. Would recommend.

Warm but not durable for the money

I stayed warm so I’m not upset with my over all rental experience. That being said, I would never buy these for the money they charge. My outer sleeve would not zip all the way (avoid if you have larger, muscular calves). I was surprised by how prone they were to fraying and wearing down on the outer sleeve. The button used to tighten the inner boot rubs against the outer sleeve and wears a hole. Can’t tuck it closer to foot or you will get a hot spot. The toe box felt good, traction was great, crampon compatibility was great, the warmth was terrific. Glad I paid the extra insurance money. I work to take great care of my gear (owned or rented) but I don’t expect these boots ti survive a full season with RMIs operational tempo. Not worth the money to buy. Great rental.

Warm

I chose the double insulated boot for our June 1st summit climb because my feet tend to run a little cold if i am not moving around much. I found the boots a bit too warm on the way up to camp Muir but tolerable. Fortunately the sun was out when we arrived so I could dry the boots out some. The morning of the summit bid was quite cool and as low as -10C at one point. I was glad to have the warmer boots. The weather conditions were ideal. Had there been more wind or colder, it would been even more important to have the double insulated boot. I'd rather have warm feet than cold feet when hiking/climbing.
They were a solid boot. Be sure to snug them up to your ankle to prevent your foot from sliding forward and causing toe issues. Fortunately I did not have any blister issues. Remember to take care of your feet- tape up hot spots. It was also nice to have the integrated gaiters.
