Men's Ember Jacket
Nice jacket, fits and looks great. Excellent for hiking/walking when it’s not overly cold.
Very warm, well made. Fits great, with one minor exception - the forearms are quite snug. You can actually see how the forearms are much narrower than the biceps. Hood is excellent. Length of the jacket is perfect.
I love the fit not boxy like most other brands I’ve worn, including north face and Patagonia.
I’ve used my (L) Ember jacket on a few alpine touring outings on Mt. Hood this winter, in lieu of my much bigger down puffy, as an insulation layer when stopped. I really like the Ember. It’s a great mid-weight thermal layer that compacts very well. I normally wear a medium, but the medium Ember was a little too tight in the chest (5’8” 158 lb. 42” chest). There are a lot of nice features that make this a great addition to my gear. The length is great, and covers my backside well. The cuffs are an absolutely great design. The hood is ample and very warm and comfortable. The internal pocket is a great size and hold bulky stuff easily. The lined pockets are great. I went with a large, with has a little extra room and the only thing I would add is a drawstring to snug the the bottom hem up a little. All-in-all, this is a great lightweight down insulation layer --- and it looks great in town, too.
With so many outdoor retailers cashing in on the “athleisure” market, it is refreshing to find a company still focused exclusively on the outdoor athlete/mountaineer/rock climber market. The coat has all the features needed for a summit climb in the Pacific NW which is exactly what we were after.
